Secret Prayer Sister: The Best Yes

Heart knowledge…

The Pursuit of Wisdom Brings Security

Proverbs 2:1-6 (NASB)

1 My son, if you will receive my words
And treasure my commandments within you,
2 Make your ear attentive to wisdom,
Incline your heart to understanding;
For if you cry for discernment,
Lift your voice for understanding;
If you seek her as silver
And search for her as for hidden treasures;
Then you will discern the fear of the Lord
And discover the knowledge of God.
For the Lord gives wisdom;
From His mouth come knowledge and understanding.

The following list is what Lysa noted on pages 14-15 in her study guide regarding the above noted Proverb:

“Accept my words. Get into God’s Word.

Store up my commands. Let God’s Word get into you.

Turn your ear to wisdom. Listen to lose instruction from God and wise people.

Apply your heart to understanding. Apply wise instruction to your current situation.

Call our for insight. Ask God for insights you wouldn’t think of on your own.

Cry aloud. Pray out loud over situations where you need wisdom.

Look for it. Actively look for God’s revelations. Look for the hand of God in everything.

Search for it as hidden treasure. Treat wisdom as one of the greatest treasures you could acquire” (Pgs. 14-15).

Following the Lord begins with our salvation; but it must go beyond that to include daily decisions that intentionally stem from our desire to draw closer to Jesus (pg 15).

Wisdom and folly, as they are called in Proverbs, both desire to control our lives. We must decide which one will; and then set our minds and hearts to the outcome of our choice, so that our actions will follow (pg 15).

Most women have already read chapter one, and really enjoyed it! As we move through the remainder of the week, please identify a situation in your life where you need to discern a Best Yes, and match it with a verse or several verses from Proverbs (pg 15). Once you have your verse(s), consider one or more of the following options: Pray over the situation in relation to the verses in Proverbs that ministered to you. Meet with a wise woman to begin discussing the situation that you know needs a Best Yes. Journal through the struggle in relation to Scripture. Journal your prayers as you call out to Jesus for guidance, wisdom and peace.

Please pray about sharing (in a comment below or on our FB page) your situation and/or the Bible verses that ministered to you, so that you may encourage the other women who are also searching for guidance from the Lord through prayer and the Proverbs.
